BERLIN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Christoph Harting's throw of 65.67 meters gifted him the top spot in the discus competition at the 77th edition of the International Stadium Festival (ISTAF) in Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Christoph Harting from Germany spoiled his brother's farewell after winning the discus throw competition with his fourth attempt and 65.67m.

His brother, Olympic champion, former World Champion and European Champions Robert Harting finished on the second place after improving his throw to 64.95m with his last attempt.

"I am thrilled. All are here, my rivals, my friends and my family. I have always hoped for such a farewell. This was an amazing goodbye at ISTAF today. I feel very honoured that so many people showed up. Yesterday, I left home a little sad because I knew that when I come back home I won't be a professional athlete anymore," Robert Harting said after his last tournament.

Fellow Martin Wierig rounded off the German triple victory after throwing 63.67m to complete the competition on the third spot.

The ISTAF in Berlin's Olympic Stadium is the biggest athletics meeting in the world and attracts annually 50.000 spectators as approximately 180 athletes from 40 countries compete in 15 disciplines. Enditem
