SINGAPORE, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 0.14 percent or 5.02 points to close at 3584.56.

A total of 1.49 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.22 billion Singapore dollars (about 925.87 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 246 to 187.

The STI index closed up 0.17 percent or 6.16 points to close at 3579.54 Monday.
