LUANDA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Angola on Wednesday showed the support to Morocco in its bid to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Artur Almeida, told a press conference here, "Supporting Morocco is to unite Africa and make it even stronger due to the visibility that the event provides."

Former Senegalese star El Hadji Diouf and former Cameroon goalkeeper Antoine Bell were also at the scene.

Almeida said that Morocco's bid for the World Cup is theoretically particular and that it is an action that must be cherished, after posting the good name of the continent in general.

So far, two official bids to host the 2026 World Cup were submitted to FIFA: a joint bid by Canada, Mexico and the United States, and a bid by Morocco. On June 13, 2018, the FIFA Congress in Moscow will make the final decision.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams, after FIFA approved expansion from 32 teams in January 2017.
